A Christmas Gift for You

Hey, there, Snickels Corner Craft fans! It’s Christmas time and I love giving gifts so I made a little freebie template for y’all.  And no, I’m not getting back into designing, I just decided that since I had created the files to make this cute ornament I might as well share it!

This is a fun little ornament gift card/cash holder.  I put it together really fast, so there is no preview of the files, just an example of what it could look like.  I made this one using a cute little kit from Kristin Aagard called December 25th.  The download includes the envelope, the front and back of the ornament and the tab.

You can find the download HERE.  It includes PSDs, TIFs, and PNGs.

I hope you enjoy it…I’d love to see any creations you make with it, just leave a link in the comments!!

May this time of celebrating the birth of our Savior fill you with peace and joy! Until next time…

And it’s not too late to jump in and join us in creating your own treasured keepsake with Peek At Our Week. We had our first webinar this week and had a great time planning and dreaming about what our project is going to look like. It’s recorded so you can still listen in and get all the details when you sign up for the Workshop.  We’ve also got our first contest going on…watch my Facebook page to see which of the participants wins their choice of my new releases this week.

The Luck of the Layout is happening right now at Brownie Scraps. Upload your projects or layouts using my products to MY GALLERY and at the end of the month, one lucky layout will win a free template pack from me. On top of that, each designer is running this contest, so 10 winners will be chosen at the end of the month!!!  If you have layouts or projects you’ve done with Brownie Scraps templates, get them uploaded to the appropriate gallery for your chance to win!

Finally, I have a fun little freebie to give you today.  It’s an egg stand for your decorated Easter eggs.

I found a ton on new ideas for decorating eggs…where else, but on Pinterest…and thought this year my family might have a decorating contest. I am going to make these stands that say “brightest egg”, “silliest egg”  and “most creative egg”, etc. and we’ll vote for the egg that best fits each “award” and then set the egg on its pedestal 🙂  Does your family decorate Easter eggs?  What’s your favorite method to dye them?

January 2013 DST Blog Train!!

Yeah! I’m so excited to be a part of the DST Blog Train this time around.  I’ve been a huge fan of the Blog Train since I started digi-scrapping 3 years ago. And finally I get to participate!

I’ve recently opened a hybrid template store at Brownie Scraps, I would love to have you stop by and check out all the fun products I have in my shop. I have some traditional hybrid projects like boxes and bags and a few cards. But I also have some fun mini album projects, lots of gift ideas and even some home decor!

My part of the train is a free Pocket Planner Cover. This project took less than an hour to put together! And it makes me smile every time I pull out my planner to schedule an appointment in the new year.

French Fry Box Project

I just love giving gifts to the kids’ teachers at Christmas…usually it’s a gift card. But I like to give them some little treats to go with it. This year they will be getting their gift cards in a French Fry Box 🙂

New Releases and a freebie!!

I can’t believe how close we are to Thanksgiving. I saw the grocery ads for turkeys and thought it was too early to starting thinking about turkeys. Then I looked at the calendar and my jaw hit the floor…less than 2 weeks!  If you are feeling as behind on this holiday as I am, my Setting Your Thanksgiving Table bundle can help you set your table beautifully.

The bundle is still available at a discounted price or you can get all the pieces separately in my store.  To see the full instructions, visit this post!

I have a couple new things in the store this week. First is a set of bag toppers. They come in two sizes to fit either a standard sandwich zip-top bag or a 4 inch cello bag that you can purchase at most craft stores. Of course you can resize any of them to make them fit your bags. You could even use them on brown paper bags to dress up your child’s lunch 🙂

Here are some samples:

These were made with a gorgeous kit from Snips and Snails called Autumn Opulence.

Also available this week is “Gift Card Vol.1”. This is a fun card that holds a gift card! So simple to put together, too!

The horizontal card was given away last weekend as part of the Brownie Scraps DSD Blog Hop, but this set includes a vertical style as well. Visit this post to see how this cute card goes together.

And now, here’s your freebie…it’s a place card that you can use to seat your guests or label your food at a buffet.

Download here.

Blog update…my new CTM Martina has been rocking the templates this week and I wanted to show them off! Look at this beyond-cute handled pouch.

And here are some of her place cards…don’t you wish you join in her Christmas celebration, just to see your name on one of these cute, cute place cards.

Gift cards…love ’em or hate ’em?

I love them!  I love getting them and I love giving them. It’s probably just me, because I’m not very good at thinking up things to give people, but I love the idea of the kids’ teachers spending an hour browsing the book store with their gift card in hand! Again, maybe it’s because I love spending an afternoon picking up books and judging them by their covers, lol!

Well, whatever camp you fall in, today’s project is a gift card holder and a card all in one!

I made this lovely card with a beautiful bundle from Memory Clips by Ramona.

There are beautiful paint splatters, word tags and a huge collection of stitching that coordinate as well!

Here’s another one we did for a birthday party Aaron went to (not sure what happened to the picture of the front of the card??)

This weekend only, to celebrate Digital Scrapbook Day, I’m giving away the template for this card!  {link expired}

This card is so easy to put together, let me show you!

First, decorate your page and print it out. Then trim the edges. I like to use my metal-edge ruler and a craft knife to make straight cuts.

Then score your card along the two score lines. One is a “mountain fold” the other a “valley fold”.  The mountain fold should be folded so that when you are looking at the printed side folded it looks like a mountain 🙂 The valley folds, just the opposite.

I finally broke down and bought a bone folder/scoring tool and I wish I had done it sooner!

After I make my folds I like to use the flat side of my bone folder to make the creases nice and clean.

Then carefully cut the slot for the gift card. It should be a thin rectangle so that the gift card doesn’t cause any tearing at the edges.

The glue for this project is a little different, it’s all on the inside of the card.  I hope you can see where I placed the glue in this photo.

You are going to flip your printed card over so that the front of the card is at the top. On the middle panel run your glue or tape all the way around the edges. Then add a second line of glue/tape underneath the top line of glue.  You want the top of the gift card slot to be tacked down almost to the opening.  Below the slot should be open to have room for the gift card to slide into.  Fold the top (the mountain fold) down over the tape or glue and press to secure. Slide your gift card into the slot and sign your name…it’s that easy!

Until next time…
